Yesterday my parents took my on my birthday present adventure down to Chicago. We drove, before taking the train was contemplated and later on reconsidered halfway down. Traffic was intense since most of the on ramps for I-94 were closed for construction in Kenosha. Highway 50 had some of the worse traffic ever, from Aurora hospital to the I took probably 10 minutes or so. Traffic was also pretty congested when we merged with Kennedy.
We had dinner reservations at Jack on Halsted at 5:15. We had some time to kill, and I noticed there was a Ragstock a block away. Now I have been in the one in Madison, it was awesome. Fortunately, and unfortunately we entered the wrong store. Ragstock was on the second and basement floors, while Hollywood Mirror was on the first; we entered the latter of the three. I did however find these two badass shirts.
$30 bucks only, too. We wandered a bit more and then had dinner. The restaurant was a bit fancier than we expected, but the food was amazing. I am not one for fancy food, so the cute decor arrangements of it all didn’t amaze me – but the food was still filling and tasted awesome.
7 finally rolled around, and the show began to start. Blue Man was amazing, possibly one of the best birthday presents by far. I want to go back again. I really liked how they interacted with the crowd, and also the whole mimism (mime-ing, whatever.) They pulled two people out of the crowd, made them part of the skit. The end was awesome – and the toliet paper pumped me up. Don’t want to say much more and ruin it for anybody. But it is deffinately worth the money. Also, I am pretty sure it is not that far from the Ravenswood stop on the Metra.
