On my way to work 97.3 The Brew posed a question: is there almost too much Obamanation? It seems y
ou cannot help but hear something about the presidents personal life or his picture plastered around the media. The iconic Obama Change image has been paraded arounded and whored out just about as much as that crap Warhol picture of Marilyn Manroe. You cannot quite put the whole blame on him, he is actually has vitality in him when he speaks – there is one other reason. Patriotism sells about as good as sex.
There was an article at Time.com earlier this month. The article pokes at Obama for having the spotlight when he took his wife to a broadway show in New York, NY; saying Obama is showing up the average joe, and that he has plenty of hired help to let him do these things. Who cares? Our president is going out to see the people and be a family man – yet everyone seems to bash him.
Mass media cannot report on the war anymore – that’s almost eight years old. Brittany and Paris are done being drama whores, and whores period. Diseases are only fun for so long. We finally have a president that can be on television and people won’t just flip the channel. He has a personality! The media is going to go all over this. During the Bush years, you could not do many articles on his personal life. He was not very charismatic, he looked like a chimpanzee and he did not seem confident as he spoke. Now we have someone that these kind of things can actually be written about.
I will not lie; I am very sick of seeing the “Yes We Can” and all the Obama shirts/hats. Great, he won. Yes he did a good speech. Get off the hype and make sure he does his job. Make sure his promises can be kept by lobbying your senators and representatives. Quit bitching that Obama is in the media too much. Be happy we have a president that can actually be in the media positively.
